SIG SAUER® Expands P226® Line with Addition of SAO Model
Single-action only variant a natural for IDPA, USPSA competition
EXETER, NH (January 2013) — SIG SAUER® now offers a single-action-only variant of its legendary P226® pistol as part of its Elite series of handguns.
The P226 Elite SAO is a natural choice for United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) and International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) competitors. The crisp, single-action trigger delivers fast, accurate shots and meets USPSA Production and IDPA Enhanced Service Pistol rules.
The P226 Elite SAO features an alloy enhanced Elite frame and a stainless steel slide with Nitron finish. Forward cocking serrations assist in press checks and provide better purchase when manipulating the slide. A beavertail enhances ergonomics and aids shooters in making quicker follow-up shots.
In addition to ambidextrous thumb safeties, the P226 Elite SAO includes the SIG SAUER patented automatic firing pin safety block, safety intercept notch and trigger bar disconnector.
