All our instructors are certified in their respective fields, and many of them have been affiliated with SIG SAUER for years, broadening our scope of personalized training we can offer to our law enforcement, military, and responsible citizens. Field Instructors & Special Instructors
Dennis Caroll, Instructor
Dennis Caroll has over 27 years of law enforcement experience. He has been a Range Master / Armorer for the Schaumburg Illinois Police Department for over 20 years and has provided instruction to various local, state and federal law enforcement organizations. He is a certified rangemaster, and holds instructor certifications in; master firearms, rapid deployment, patrol rifle, less lethal, patrol procedures, ballistic shield, transitional pistol, range maintenance and operation, along with certifications as an armorer. Awarded the Medal of Valor from the Cook County Sheriff. Currently serving as a member of the IALEFI Board of Directors, and ILEETA Conference Planning Committee.
Earl Case, Jr., Instructor
Earl Case has 40 years of experience in both law enforcement and military, with 17 years as a firearms instructor. Mr. Case was a team leader of the Counter-Sniper Team for the Seacoast Emergency Response Team and a member of the Accident Investigative Team. He retired from the United States Marine Corps as a First Sergeant.. Mr. Case is a Vietnam Veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Award with 5 stars.
Keith Frederick, Firearms/Armorer Instructor
K.C. Frederick has over 35 years as a law enforcement officer and federal criminal investigator. During his career with the Department of Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service, Mr. Frederick. served as the agency’s lead firearms instructor and armorer. While assigned to the Branch of Training and Inspection, he oversaw and directed the agencies transition from revolvers to semi-automatic pistols, authored the service policies on the Use of Force, Firearms, and Use of Force Reporting Requirements. Mr. Frederick was also responsible for drafting all firearms courses and he established the Qualification and Re-qualification standards.
David Grimshaw, Instructor
David Grimshaw has been training law enforcement and military personnel for over 26 years. He is a former instructor with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMTU #1, Fort Bragg, NC), This unit was tasked with the marksmanship training of military personnel in the First and Second Army regions. Dave also served as pointman on Fort Bragg’s SRT. As a law enforcement officer with a municipal police department, Dave served in the capacities of patrolman, street crime unit detective, and firearms instructor. He is a combat veteran with an extensive background in small unit operations. Dave was hand picked as the NCOIC of weapons training for the XVIII Airborne Corp Long Range Surveillance Company. David is currently the Director of Training for the Special Operations Training Academy (S.O.T.A.) in Welcome, North Carolina.
Jennifer Harris, Instructor
Jennifer Harris has over 22 years of combined law enforcement and military experience. As a career law enforcement officer, Jennifer has served in various capacities, including patrol officer, detective, field training officer, school resource officer, SRT member and Sergeant for a municipal police department. Ms. Harris has been responsible for firearms, and tactical training for various agencies, and has taught firearms, instructor development and combat survival through the USAF for the Department of State. She also served in the United States Air Force Reserve in the capacity of an NCOIC during Operation Enduring Freedom while deployed overseas.
Ms. Harris educates military members on US and foreign military weaponry systems to include but not limited to small arms, AAA, MANPADS, SAMS, and various aircraft. She has also taught terrorism and anti-terrorism applications.
Todd Horn, Instructor
Todd Horn is a 24-year veteran Law Enforcement Officer with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. During his career he served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Detective, and SWAT Team Leader. Mr. Horn has extensive experience instructing firearms and officer survival tactics within his department as well as at the New Hampshire Police Academy. As a Sergeant, Todd served in the Patrol Division and was then placed in charge of the departments Training Division.
Mr. Horn specializes in the Use of Force and Officer Survival training, holding instructor certifications in Firearms, Defensive Spray and Taser. He also holds certifications as a SIG SAUER® Armorer and Rangemaster.
Christine Kelly, Instructor
Christy Kelly has over 11 years of federal law enforcement and military law enforcement experience. Ms. Kelly is a Special Agent for the Departmant of Defense. She has conducted major criminal, fraud, and counterintelligence investigations at several different locations throughout the world. She specializes in protective service operations for high ranking dignitaries. Ms. Kelly supports a counter-surveillance team with the United States Secret Service for the United States President, Vice-President, First Lady, National Security Advisor, and Foreign Heads of State. Furthermore, she provides direct protection to visiting foreign dignitaries in support of the Secretary of Defense, and provides critical protective support to top ranking U.S. military officials.
Scott Kenneson, Instructor
Scott Kenneson has over 20 years of law enforcement and military experience. While with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, Mr. Kenneson held positions as a Conservation Officer and Hunter Safety Instructor.
Mr. Kenneson brings years of firearms instructor training with him to the SIG SAUER Academy. He is also a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI).
John McGregor, Instructor
John McGregor has been a Police Officer since 1992, and is certified as an instructor in the following disciplines: handgun, submachine gun, defensive tactics, ASP baton, Taser, and oleoresin capsicum spray.
Mr. McGregor is currently employed with a municipal police department in southern New Hampshire where he is assigned to the Legal Division as a Police Prosecutor. He has been a member of a 55 member regional SWAT team since 1998, where he is certified as a tactical operator and a police sniper. Mr. McGregor is currently a member of the training staff for the SWAT team, his 45 member police department, and has taught firearms and defensive tactics at the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Co.
Allan Offringa, Instructor
Allan Offringa has over 40 years of firearms, instructor, armorer, and ammunition performance/ identification experience, consulting with numerous agencies both in the United States and throughout the world. Mr. Offringa is an internationally renowned expert on firearms and ammunition and has been called to be an expert witness in over 300 trials. He also has extensive experience in federal law enforcement as a US Customs Agent and as a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Todd Rassa, Instructor
Todd Rassa has over 18 years of law enforcement experience and has numerous firearms instructor certifications. Mr. Rassa is a Sergeant in a Mid-Atlantic Police Department, where he holds the position of Range Master. He is also a member of The Police Marksman National Advisory Board.
Scott Reidy, Instructor
Scott Reidy is a full-time Police Officer with the Nashua Police Department in Nashua New Hampshire – a position he has held for over 18 years. Most currently he has been assigned to the departments’ Firearms Training Unit. He is also a member of the departments’ Special Reaction Time where he has served as assistant team leader since 1997. Mr. Reidy has also held positions with Wang Laboratories as an Executive Protection Specialist.
Nicholas Roberts, Jr., Instructor
Nick Roberts has over 29 years of law enforcement experience and 27 years as a Salt Lake County Deputy Sheriff. For the last 18 years, Mr. Roberts has been assigned to the Firearms Unit and progressed through the ranks holding the position of Sergeant and Range Master level II. He assisted in the design of the Public Order Unit’s for the 2002 Winter Olympics as well as designed and built the firearms training facility for the Sheriff’s Office.
Mr. Roberts has provided instruction and testimony to various local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. He has been actively involved in all facets of Firearms Training including, Less Lethal, and Non-Lethal.
Bob Schneider, Firearms/Armorer Instructor
During his career with the Denver Police Department, Bob Schneider was a member of the full time Special Weapons and Tactics Unit for over 18 years where he was a firearms and tactics instructor. He also was a guest instructor at the department’s Academy.
Mr. Schneider had a distinguished career - he received the department’s Medal of Valor, Distinguished Service Cross, two Merit Awards and a Life Saving Award. When Bob retired he went to work for Heckler and Koch as a Region Law Enforcement Sales Representative and Instructor. He left HK as the Director of the International Training Division.
John Simpson, Instructor
John C. Simpson is retired from the US Army Special Forces where he was a sniper instructor at both Fort Bragg and Fort Devens. He was also a sniper in a special operations unit in Germany. Mr. Simspon has been a sniper instructor for over twenty years, training police and military snipers across the country.
Mr. Simpson has also written extensively on police sniping for the Police and Security News and the Journal of Counterterrorism.
Curt Spanos, Firearms/Armorer Instructor
Curt Spanos has over 34 years of law enforcement experience where he was an instructor in weapons, tactical training and an area road supervisor. He was responsible for developing the departments firearms program, use of force program and the firearms range. He has continued to train and instruct law enforcement officers in weapons handling and maintenance through the Maryland State Police Training Commission and SIG SAUER® Academy.
Mr. Spanos was a gunsmith for over 25 years and holds armorers certifications from SIG SAUER®, Smith & Wesson, Glock, FBI and Remington.
Russell Tanji, Instructor
Russell Tanji's experience includes over 23 years of law enforcement service, with over 15 years as an instructor in firearms and defensive tactics. His firearms certifications include Range Master from SIG SAUER® and the Honolulu Police Department, FBI and NRA law enforcement firearms instructor. He also holds armorer certifications from SIG SAUER, FBI, S&W and Glock. He has served as a defensive tactics instructor for the FBI, S&W, H&K and numerous other agencies in such courses as folding knife, impact weapon, persuader keychain, weapon retention and more.
Mr. Tanji is a member of numerous organizations including the NRA, American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers, and National Tactical Officers Association.
Rich Verdi, Instructor
Rich Verdi is a former Police Sergeant, having retired after nearly 21 years with a municipal police agency in N.J. Mr. Verdi served as a Patrol Officer, Patrol Supervisor, E.S.U. member and Team Leader and prior to his retirement, he was departments’ Training Officer and Rangemaster. He has been a member of I.A.L.E.F.I. since 1989 instructing at numerous training conferences and is currently serving as a member of the I.A.L.E.F.I. Board of Directors. He is a NJ state certified Rangemaster and a member of the NJ Attorney General's Firearms Advisory Board.
Mr. Verdi is also a published author, with approximately two dozen articles published in the popular gun press.
