Quality Inspector - Optics

Position Summary: Responsible for all aspects of quality inspection of the company’s products, using traditional metrology tools and techniques, but with primary focus on electro-optics and mechanical/electronic accessories. Performs a wide variety of routine and non-routine inspections using pre-determined methods, including visual, dimensional, mechanical, test and functional. Includes production support, data collection, troubleshooting and root cause analysis, as well as workplace organization and safety. Also includes close collaboration and technical interfacing with supplier quality and business development functions and suppliers of the electro-optics and mechanical/electronic accessories.

Experience/Skill Requirements:
Primary Responsibilities: Assist in development of procedures and methods for mechanical inspection and functional acceptance for electro-optics and mechanical/electronic accessories. Perform these activities and report results to relevant functions as well as propose solutions to problems and propose improvements. Perform product testing to include engineering and environmental evaluations. This includes providing inputs for test equipment and fixtures, and implementing same. Efficiently and effectively plan and perform routine and non-routine mechanical inspection using pre-determined methods for product acceptability, in collaboration with the inspection and supplier quality functions. Review inspection data to assure integrity and investigate/resolve discrepancies found during part inspection. When required to lead investigation teams in resolution of issues, establish and maintain communication lines with supplier (internal and external). Use the company operating system to generate inquiries, perform movement of material, create job routings and any other function required to perform job duties. Implement expedient methods of inspection in order to maintain product flow in accordance with company directives. This includes assistance in the development of fixtures and gauges. Use corrective action system and subsequent follow up process to resolve deficiencies found during job function. Assume administrative duties in the absence of supervision in order to comply with company directives.
