EXETER, NH (January 2010) – SIG SAUER, the leading manufacturer of military, law enforcement, government, and commercial firearms has unveiled the next generation of SIG556 rifles with the SIG556 Patrol Rifle. The compact Patrol Rifle with a Swiss-style, adjustable folding stock is the perfect rifle for 3-Gun matches, or in the SWAT version, the perfect go-to rifle for patrol cars. What makes this rifle highly maneuverable is the reduced length gas piston with an adjustable 2-position gas valve. The SIG556 Patrol Rifle also keeps it short with Swiss-style, reduced-length, polymer hand-guards. The SWAT Patrol Rifle’s tactical forend is an alloy-quad rail in reduced length. Just a compact 36.1" in overall length with a stock folded length of 27.1", the Patrol Rifle with its highly accurate 16" barrel is an ideal close quarter combat rifle with quick-point ergonomics. Whether it’s for competition or duty, the SIG556 Patrol Rifle is an all-business .223 semi-automatic rifle built from the legendary DNA of the classic SIG556 platform. The SIG556 Patrol Rifle ships with the RDSS (Rotary Diopter Sight System), and one 30-round magazine with connector, all in a hard carrying case for an MSRP of $1969.00 (SWAT version $2149.00)
