An airgun is a device that uses compressed air or gas to propel a projectile through the barrel. There are many types of airguns on the market, from low-powered rifles and pistols that fire .177 caliber BBs to ones that fire larger “pellets” which are large enough and are fired with a high enough velocity to be used for hunting. But all airguns share the same basic characteristic of using compressed air or gas as the propellant for the projectile without any combustion.
