Compact

The term compact most often refers to the size of a semi-automatic handgun. A compact handgun is built to be smaller than a so-called “full size” handgun and is usually intended for concealed carry use. These models have a barrel length between 3.5 and 4.5 inches and in some cases have a smaller grip and lower magazine capacity.
