Muzzle flash is the light emitted from the end of a firearm barrel when a round is fired. When a cartridge is fired, the combustion of the propellant creates byproducts of both gas and flame that exits the muzzle after each shot. Some shooters, particularly law enforcement and military operators, want to reduce the muzzle flash to conceal their position—particularly when firing at night. There are a variety of muzzle devices available that help reduce muzzle flash, with suppressors also being an excellent option for “signature” reduction.
