A scope is an optical device that uses lenses housed in a tubular frame to assist with aiming a firearm. Generally, scopes feature magnification capabilities to allow shooters to engage targets at a variety of distances and are manufactured with reticles to help with aiming and precision. The term “scope” is generally used as a catch-all phrase to describe any tubular optic, usually including a degree of magnification, used on a firearm (both rifles and pistols) or crossbow.
