The term concealed carry refers to transporting a firearm—usually a handgun—for self-defense in such a way that it is not visible to anyone else. Typically, a person carries a firearm in a holster attached to a belt, inside or outside the waistband, concealed underneath clothing. Concealed carry can also include so-called “off-body carry” where a person safely transports the self-defense firearm in a bag or purse. Concealed carry is the opposite of “open carry” where a person transports a firearm on their body in a way that is visible to another.
