Elevation

In shooting ballistics, elevation refers to the vertical distance up or down from the horizontal when referenced from the gun’s barrel. For example, if a shot lands (point of impact) above the point of aim, the sight or optic’s elevation needs to be adjusted. In cases where the target is a significant distance from the shooter, the elevation can be a function of the bullet’s ballistic trajectory, so elevation adjustments should be made accordingly.
