When shooters require a magazine capacity greater than that provided by the manufacturer, an extended magazine may be required. Extended magazines are usually longer than so-called “standard” magazines. Many companies offer extended magazines for a wide range of firearms. Extended magazines are typically used with handguns, but extended magazines are also popular with modern semi-automatic rifle shooters. With handguns, it is critical that extended magazines properly fit and feed into the firearm. Also, important to note is that some firearms are made specifically for extended magazines and will not accommodate standard capacity magazines of a similar firearm model.
