A magazine is an ammunition feeding device for firearms. Multiple firearm cartridges can be stored in the magazine and are fed into the chamber from the magazine when firing and reloading. There are a variety of magazine types, including tubular magazines on some older rifle designs, attached box magazines used in some bolt-action and semi-automatic rifles, and detachable magazines used in semi-automatic handguns and rifles. There are dozens of magazine manufacturers and designs for most types of firearms, allowing shooters to tailor their kit for their specific needs.
