Similar to Mil-Spec, Mil-Std is a shortened version of the term Military Standard. Typically, this term is used to describe the method by which something is made, engineered, or tested. For example, Mil-Std 1267 establishes standard methods of dimensioning barrel chambers for small arms weapons on detailed drawings for each type of barrel chamber. It also establishes standard methods for specifying headspace dimensions for the assembled weapon.
