The point of aim is the area on a target where an optic or sight is aligned. It is essentially the spot on the target being aimed at through the sights, scope, or optic on the firearm. It is distinct from “point of impact” in that, at some ranges, the place on the target where the projectile hits can be different from the point of aim due to a firearm’s offset. At longer ranges, the difference between point of aim and point of impact can be attributed to environmental conditions, ammunition ballistics, and equipment setup, i.e., sights or optics calibrated (zeroed) incorrectly.
