A push-button QD, or “quick detach,” is a mounting system typically used for sling swivel mounts or rings. The push button QD is the “male” end of the attachment where the “female” end is typically embedded on the firearm—usually a rifle’s stock, lower receiver or handguard. The push-button QD attaches simply by pushing the item into the mount, where small bearings lock it into place. The QD is released by pressing a small button at the top, retracting the bearings and releasing the attachment from the firearm.
