The takedown lever is the part of a semi-automatic handgun that unlocks the slide from the frame or grip module. Typically, the takedown lever sits flush with the grip module roughly parallel to the slide during handgun operation but pivots upward or downward to unlock the slide and allow for removal. Removing the slide is one of the steps to field stripping a pistol and does not require an armorer level skillset.
