A threaded barrel has a screw-like attachment point at the muzzle end. Most AR-style rifles have threaded barrels as do some bolt-action precision rifles. Most handguns, on the other hand, do not have threaded barrels, but many companies offer aftermarket threaded pistol barrels for shooters who want to attach suppressors and other devices. The thread pitch and direction of the threads must be the same on the device and the barrel.
