The new SIG SAUER HYP rifle is the first direct impingement modern sporting rifle capable of firing high-pressure hybrid ammunition. Chambered in 6.8x51mm/SIG 277 FURY, the SIG HYP rifle delivers an exceptional blend of raw power, reliability, and accuracy. Engineered with high-quality components, including a steel cam path insert, steel feed ramp, and chrome lined hammer forged barrel, the SIG HYP rifle was built to unlock the potential of hybrid ammunition.
The new HYP rifle’s engine is a four-position adjustable mid-length direct impingement gas system. The adjustable gas block allows owners to tune the rifle for the mission at hand, easily accommodating both suppressed and unsuppressed fire against any adverse condition. Furnished with a 16-in barrel with a 1:7 twist, the HYP rifle delivers best-in-class velocities and repeatable accuracy across all bullet weights. On the rifle’s forend, a free-floating M-LOK Handguard allows for the easy addition of aftermarket accessories while promoting smooth handling.
Additional standard features include fully ambidextrous controls, including the bolt catch, magazine catch, safety, and charging handle. To enhance the accuracy of the shooter and rifle, the HYP is fitted with a SIG Matchlite DUO curved trigger. Other enhancements include replaceable steel-reinforced components for high-wear areas, along with a steel magazine for reliable feeding, which was developed as part of the U.S. Army’s Next Generation Squad Weapon Program.
